Joy of Music Teaching
I wanted to take a few moments to tell you about the Joy of Music Teaching. I have been teaching music for over thirty years and have found it to be a source of great joy and satisfaction. Why? The reasons are many, but I thought I would list a few here because some of you may be music teachers or are considering music teaching as a career. Firstly, the number one reason for music teaching bringing one joy is that YOU get to impart knowledge about something that you have an inherent passion for.Love of music comes from within.Sure, some people learn music simply as an intellectual exercise. But when you have a deepseated love for music and for the instrument you play, whether guitar, piano, voice, flute or some other instrument, you Love what you do and you find Joy in imparting that knowledge and love of music to others. It's part of you. Secondly, you get to meet a wide range of people of all age groups and because of the hours and years involved in teaching some students you develop good friendships with many people. Thirdly,it is a wonderful thing to see a beginner student start to master their instrument and to work hard at their practice and then see the results that come from that consistent,self-disciplined training. The joy both teacher and student experience at the student's first Concert performance or the excellent results obtained in their first exam lasts a long time and creates longlasting memories for teacher and student. Fourthly, the laughter when something goes wrong in a lesson or a new skill taught is difficult to master.Maybe the student is a little older and co-ordination is not as good as when one is young. So fingerings get mixed up or notes are misread time and time again. If we keep a good sense of humour then there is always Joy to be had in each lesson. It's great when students can look back on their music lessons as a time of learning and laughter, not a time of grumpy comments and harsh criticism. Finally, when the student says "I want to teach music like you do!" or your own child says "I want to teach music when I grow up".This brings great Joy to any successful music teacher.

Hi! I'm a musician too! Good to meet fellow musicians in this website.
This is such a lovely SINCERE intel! I so understand what you mean by that 'joy'.. I also love the feeling of being capable to transfer the beautiful to the minds of your pupils and see the result with your own eyes.. These seeds are really worth planting.
If you do what you love to do then you never have to worry about working ever again. My wife an I were both involved in music growing up and it has been a joy seeing the children taking an interest as well. I have noticed that love of music is contagious. I would say that all four of your points are excellent reasons to teach music with the last paragraph being the best reason of all.
